Bobby Johnston was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. His best friend taught him how to play guitar when he was sixteen and they played in a band together through out high school. After landing a job at K-BUC AM and FM Radio it wasn’t long before the songwriting dream took hold. In 1982, Bobby moved to Nashville and auditioned for Opryland Theme Park where he got a job as a Grand Ole Opry Tour Guide. He also, worked as a record promoter and tracker for Barbara Kelly Promotions on famed 16th Ave. South. Bobby was invited to play at a Christmas Party where the King of Country Music was in attendance, Roy Acuff. Mr. Acuff was very encouraging. As a tour guide, Bobby got to go back stage often of the Grand Ole Opry and was invited to play in Mr. Acuff’s dressing room where many performers hung out. Today, Bobby is writing every day honing his craft and playing writers’ nights out around the Knoxville area.
