bio of    Dave Maggard

Dave Maggard is a singer/songwriter with a renewed love for his music. Born in Kentucky, Dave’s passion for music started at a very young age. Songwriting and playing the guitar seemed to come naturally for him. In the beginning of summer 1979 Dave loaded up his guitar and headed to the mountains of Gatlinburg playing his music for grins and tips. That summer began his life long love affair with East Tennessee. In the next few years music had to take a back seat to life and sadly, his pursuit of music had to be put on hold. Establishing himself as a woodcarver in the area, Dave spent the next 25 years sculpting and traveling art shows with little time for his music. Songwriting and performing had to take a backseat to making a living. Now, with kids grown and life's pace slowed down enough to take time to reflect, his songwriting has seen a new beginning. Dave has focused on writing and performing with a renewed excitement with “Down Time 5” at local venues. His influences range from Pink Floyd, John Prine, J. D. Crowe and Ralph Stanley to Steve Earle, Robin Trower and Johnny Cash. Dave enjoys writing in a variety of flavors. As for his passion for his music, Dave says “There is nothing more satisfying as a songwriter than to touch an emotion or create a picture in someone’s mind that stays there long after the song is gone.”
