Michael Henchman is a multi-instrumentalist whose songwriting often draws inspiration from roads less traveled, both symbolic and real, that have beckoned since childhood. Growing up in Europe and across the U.S., and living many years in wild and beautiful central Alaska, resulted in a poetic fascination with far horizons, tales of rebirth, and slipping past boundaries. He relocated to Portland, Oregon six years ago to continue his search for tales from the blue highways and back roads. Whether performing solo or with full backing band, Michael brings a sense of truth and emotional passion to his songs, described as Americana with elements of folk, country and folk-pop. His current EP release “Near and Far” is an acoustic-oriented collection of stories…. of coming home, whether to a place or to oneself, and of reckoning with life in the most direct ways.
