Danny Wells

Smoky Mountains Songwriters Festival, Danny Wells, Nashville, Songwriter, SMSWF, Gatlinburg, TN Originally from Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina,  Danny earned his A.A. degree in Music from Southwestern College, in Oklahoma City.  He graduated from Belmont University with a B.M. in Commercial Music.  While attending Belmont Danny got his first job on Music Row with Town and Country Productions where he mailed records for the Warner Brothers Label.  After graduation he became a song plugger for a music publishing company.  Wells left the music industry to become a Marketing Manager for Promotional Marketing, Inc. in Chicago.   What he loved most lead him back to Nashville in 1992 where he could focus on songwriting.

In Dec. 1994, Danny wrote the George Strait hit, “Check Yes Or No”.  This song received the 1996 CMA Single of the Year, 1996 ACM Single of the Year and Video of the Year, Entertainment Radio Network’s Song of the Year and Country Weekly magazine’s Golden Pick Award  for Video of the Year.  The song was also featured in the 1995-97 ad campaign for Wrangler Jeans.

Danny’s other hits include:  “This Everyday Love and “While You Loved Me” both by Rascal Flatts, Collin Raye’s “Couldn’t Last Another Moment”, “Hello Love” for John Michael Montgomery.  Wells has also had cuts by numerous other artists including JoDee Messina, Sara Evans, Joe Diffie, Tracy Byrd, James Bonamy, Chris Young, Julie Roberts, Wade Hayes, Confederate Railroad, and Trent Tomlinson to name a few.
