Bill Hartmann

Smoky Mountains Songwriters Festival, Bill Hartmann, Songwriter, SMSWF, Gatlinburg, TNIndie recording artist, Bill Hartmann performs his original songs for a wide range of fans. Drawing them in with his masterful storytelling, he delivers lyrics that touch one’s soul. Many compare his musical style to James Taylor and the late great storyteller, Harry Chapin.
Hartmann was born and raised in Mountaintop, Pennsylvania. At an early age, he began lessons on a Fender electric guitar. Later he purchased his first 12-string guitar and started writing and performing his songs. Soon he was entertaining audiences regularly at clubs and festivals.
In 1991, Hartmann relocated to South Florida where he put his music on hold for sixteen years while he focused on work, paying the bills and maintaining a home. One afternoon, while listening to performances at an open mic he decided it was time to return to the music scene and do what he loves – sing his songs and tell his stories. He returned to many open mic’s, networked with the musicians, built a following and once again picked up regular gigs. In 2011, he released his debut CD, Now and Then.
In 2015, he appeared in two episodes of Balcony TV Miami performing The One That Stayed and Missing You at Christmas. In 2016, Hartmann released Just Like Water, a nine track CD including his International Songwriting Competition semi-finalist song, Someone That You Never Really Knew.
In addition to his solo performances, Hartmann shares the stage with many of South Florida’s seasoned performers and newcomers when he hosts Musicians Showcase and Showcase in the Round. His newest song, Younger Days is in production and will be released as a single later this year.
